The xenrani (singular: xenra) are a race of digitigrade xenos that resemble Terran foxes. First introduced in Be My Valentine, because smelly fox xenos are hot.
Speaking of smell, that tends to be the first thing that most species with olfactory receptors notice about them. They put out mind-altering pheromones that encourage complementary emotions in other species—for example, someone smelling a sad xenra would result in a surge of compassion. The effect varies, but it can be exacerbated with their venom; produced by their fangs, claws, and stingers on their pedipalps.
Physically, they tend to be around 7-9' tall (213-274cm), putting them solidly taller than humanity. In addition to base, fox-like features, they have two sets of horns (one set that curl around their ears, and another set that protect their tertiary eye.
¶ Origin
The xenrani were first domesticated approximately two-thousand Terran years before first contact with humanity, if we pretend that relativity isn't important for a minute. Their homeworld, found in a satellite of the Andromeda Galaxy, had fairly long winters—hence their thick fur coats
