Roughly 1m in height & immensely fuzzy. Have two main body segments connected by a thick waist. Their heads are proportionally large, and have wide elliptical black eyes. Have a pair of iridescent & occasionally bioluminescently sparkling antennae. Have 6 limbs, 2 legs, 4 arms. Arms terminate in trilaterally symmetric hands.
Beeple are bioimmortal just like their affini owners, only they have no reblooming process. Their bodies are genetically modifiable and have been altered like the affini's own from their original evolution. As such there are more beeple florets in the Affini Compact than any other single floret species.
On account of being humanoid insect-like aliens, a Terran floret at one point excitedly called them "Beeple!" and, upon translation, the newly labeled Beeple adored the name and insisted on being called such in Terran languages from then on.
The other sophonts from the affini homeworld. They coevolved with the ancient affini, many parts of domestication trace their roots back to the relationship of affini and beeple. Xenodrugs often cause florets to become adorably clumsy and that is because beeple clumsily bumping into each other is how affini would swap pollen! Their & Affini physiology is compatible to the point where an affini can insert their roots directly into certain parts of a beeple's nervous system in a precursor to proper Haustoric Implants. At some point the affini decided to leave in some of their root systems and thus the Haustoric Implant came into being.
Early development of domesticating xenodrugs, the instinctual inclination towards caring for other sophonts and other Affini cultural norms were all developed as part of the Affini's co-evolution with the Beeple, whom they tried to entice and keep close. On the other side, the Beeple evolved to be extremely eager and delightful florets with exceptionally high xenodrug resistances. Beeple honey, also known as core world honey, is actually heavily processed and diluted in order to create class-O xenodrugs!
The beeple are just as ancient and eldritch as the affini, only as adorable pets! Their language treats capitalization solely as a means to indicate if they are referring to an affini. When referring to themselves they'll always use lowercase. A quirk that affini and other florets sometimes use.
Modern Beeple culture is, as one might expect, centered around devotion to their beloved Affini owners and doing everything they possibly can to please them, on both an individual and societal level. For example, in languages which make the distinction, Beeple always make sure to set aside ways to denote the importance of the Affini. In English, Beeple would always capitalize nouns like "Friend" or "Neighbor" if and only if they referred to Affini!
And yes, they are absolutely, objectively, adorable.
Their honey (also sometimes known as ‘core world honey’) is sometimes used as a component in some class-o xenodrugs! They are all immensely cute and happy and sweet and also vape their honey daily because they are immensely tolerant to (xeno)drugs compared to other species.
